MSc Ayurvedic Hospital Management Degree Programme – Sabaragamuwa University

The MSc in Ayurvedic Hospital Management program is specially designed to provide comprehensive postgraduate training for Ayurveda Medical Practitioners. The duration of the program is two academic years. In the first year, which consists of three semesters including the preliminary courses, the participants must follow fifteen subjects, including a module in Research Methodology, and prepare a dissertation on an approved research topic. In the second year, students are required to take five more modules, including two electives. The objective of the program is to provide the theoretical and research base to prepare participants for administrative, educational, consultative, and research positions in Ayurvedic Health Care and Hospital Management. The program offers advanced research training based on individual interests and career aspirations to allow students to develop the ability to complete significant research in a specific area of study. The intellectual and supportive environment fostered by the Faculty encourages academic staff and students to conduct such research collaboratively.

Intended Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course students will:

• Possess managerial skills including the skills for effective communication essential in demonstrating sound health care professionalism;
• Be able to apply knowledge and skills to solve managerial problems in core functional areas of hospital administration;
• Relate theories of management to practice;
• Demonstrate a global perspective, adaptability, and global best practices in hospital and health care management in general, and in Ayurveda health care in particular;
• Possess the skills required to integrate concepts from various management disciplines to identify and develop strategies applicable for the effective management of hospital systems; and
• Possess the skills required to manage resources efficiently in a planned and performance-based environment.
